Full course description
Throughout this course, you will use a web-based tracking system in ServiceNow to track hardware assets, called Designated Non-Capital Assets (DNCA), from initial entry into the asset management system to their decommissioning. A DNCA is any device that stores and processes data with a purchase price under $5,000. The scope of devices that qualify as DNCAs currently include desktops, laptops, tablets, cell phones, and servers.
The Asset Hardware Workspace in ServiceNow is the platform university staff will use to record the activity of DNCAs. ServiceNow is a powerful platform that enables many enterprise processes across campus and has been selected as the system of record for Designated Non-Capital Assets (DNCAs). This platform was chosen due to its sophistication in asset management, as well as the future capabilities it enables in this space. Additionally, the campus has experience using ServiceNow in multiple areas, one of which is asset management helping to create a sturdy foundation.
